What a waste!

Christmas is so much fun with all the decorations and colors and brightly wrapped presents. But what happens when the fun is over and the mess is left. I hate spending so much on beautiful wrapping paper only to have it tossed at the end of the day. I am not a proponent of ironing the wrapping paper to use again to wrap next year's presents but I am mindful of all the waste that is created. So as a way to prevent at least some of it from entering the landfill (or hopefully recycling center) so quickly, we create envelopes out of it. I trace a pattern on the ripped off wrapping and my son cuts it out (perfect for those beginning to cut too). The envelopes are perfect for those after season Thank You's. The giver of the wonderful presents gets their wrapping paper back - as an envelope. So much prettier and very personalized. Here are this year's ready to go out. They will get there long before our Christmas cards which haven't even been started. Sorry all, perhaps they will be Valentine's Day cards this year.

That's brilliant! I recycle it all, but this is even better for nice flat pieces.
