So as I mentioned before in a previous post, my finger is broken. So I have been having a devil of a time getting used to typing with a splint and crocheting with a splint. I have managed to figure out a way to do both and seem to be getting better at it (glad I only have a short time left with this thing) and no I haven't gone to using my right hand for it all - I am still very left handed. What I haven't been able to do is cut with scissors. It is very difficult to cut out dresses and my new curvy designs without using scissors. So I have had to adapt to using my rotary cutter for many things. I have put the new curvy designs on hold temporarily (drew them up though so I don't forget what I wanted to do) and have gone to some other tasks. My son wanted new curtains so he went through my fabric stash and picked what he wanted. My only requirement was that one of the fabrics be fleece so that it would block out light and cold (my energy and sanity saver I adopted when he was a baby). This was a perfect task as it only required straight cuts and straight seams - easy to do with a splint and I could feel like I was getting something done. The results turned out great - exactly as he requested. Not only does it have fleece on one side, it is fleece on both sides. Should be great for keeping his room warm this winter and he can learn about the USA as he hangs out in his room. We sewed a star on where we live and I am printing pictures of relatives on fabric to place on the rest of the map. A great way for him to learn about where family lives and get a good night's sleep too. I couldn't be happier with the choice he made. Sometimes if you leave it up to the kids, they develop their own learning moment.

I love those curtains! Such a great fabric choice and a really good idea.
