Today we had a very exciting trip to a fish hatchery. Now most people might not think this is their idea of fun but for us it was. The theme for this week at school has been fish. What better way to learn about fish than to go and see them from start to adult. They learned all about salmon (and I did too). They also did some crafts, watched a slide show, used a microscope to see the scales, and the highlight was feeding some young rainbow trout. Very cool for all these 4 and 5 year olds. For me it was inspirational. The fish are so beautiful with their shiny scales and stripes and spots. Then at various stages in their life they are so colorful. Another example of how nature provides color combinations that compliment each other so beautifully. Made me want to experiment with various fabrics to reproduce the similar combinations. Really a great time. Tomorrow off to the beach...brrrrrrrrrr :)
